Our kennels and enclosures are spacious and comfortable. Small breeds (including pugs and frenchies) enjoy air-conditioned and heated rooms, while medium to XL breeds are housed in cool, fully enclosed kennels made of brick or besser block with tiled or concrete floors. The kennel areas are equipped with awnings, a sprinkler system, paddle pools, and ice in water bowls to ensure a comfortable environment.
Cats and other pets are housed indoors in comfortable, air-conditioned, and heated enclosures.
We administer various medications, including tablets, creams, ear/eye drops, supplements, and injections. General medication administration is charged at $4 per day, and per administration while injections are $15 each. Additional costs apply for administrations outside the hours of 7:30am - 4pm. We maintain detailed medication records and request that all prescription medications be accompanied by administration instructions. Absolutely. You can bring your pet's food in sealed, labeled containers, portioned for each day, at no extra cost.
Absolutely, we offer tours during our Off-Peak Seasons - so ensure to book a tour in advance if your pet is boarding during Peak Season. You can contact us via call or email to book in a time and date. Tours are only offered during Off Peak Seasons to ensure the best environment for both our furry guests and visitors. During Off-Peak times, the facility isn't as full, which means less stress for the animals and a smoother, more informative tour experience for you. Conducting tours during Off-Peak Seasons also helps prevent disruptions to these busy routines, ensuring that every pet continues to receive dedicated and uninterrupted care.
Notes about tours:
- Please do not bring your pet on the tour.
- Tours are best suited for individuals aged 12 and older.
- Ensure you are familiar with our Terms of Entry when deciding to book a tour.
For Dogs & Cats: You only need to bring the Vaccination Certificate, as we've got everything else covered! We supply food, bedding, blankets, toys, and treats for your pet's stay. However, if your pet has special dietary requirements or prefers their own food, please bring it along. While we provide bedding and toys, we can't guarantee personal items from home will return, due to the abundance of supplies we have.
For Other Pets: Owners should provide all necessary items for their stay, including food, bedding, toys, and any specialised enclosures or bird cages.
Our priority is the care and comfort of your pet, which means we do not routinely send out individual updates or photos as this can be difficult to schedule into a busy daily routine. This practice allows our dedicated staff to concentrate fully on providing the best possible experience for your pet.
However, if there is any reason for concern or anything noteworthy regarding your pet's stay, be assured that we will contact you immediately.
While we can't guarantee individual updates, you're welcome to call for a general verbal update. If one of our staff is available, we'll do our best to accommodate your request. However, our primary commitment is to the pets in our care, and this might not always be possible.
We also encourage you to follow our social media channels. We occasionally post pictures and updates there, but please understand this isn't guaranteed and is dependent on our daily schedule.
Our approach ensures that every pet receives the full attention and care they deserve, and we appreciate your understanding and trust in us to look after your beloved pet.
In the unlikely event of a medical issue occurring during a pet’s stay, all efforts will be made to contact the owner and their emergency contact. If the owner cannot be reached, or if Austral Pets believes it to be a medical emergency the pet will immediately be transported to a local vet for treatment.
Please note that all vet fees as well as pet transport fees are the responsibility of the owner. Please also be sure to inform us of all medical history relevant to the pet during the check-in.
Austral Pets keeps a record of every pet’s health status during their stay, and if a non-emergency matter occurs we will continue to monitor the pet closely. If the matter does not resolve on its own, the owner will be contacted.
Yes, keep in mind dogs and cats 11 years or older and puppies/kittens under 12 months incur additional charges as they require extra consideration in settling in with us. This sometimes includes closer monitoring, or more attention and frequent meals. The minimum age for boarding puppies/kittens is 13 weeks.
The overall health and temperament of a pet should be taken into great consideration by the owner before boarding a senior pet. For some senior pets, a change in their routine and environment can cause them distress and create an overall decline in health. Please remember as the owner, you are more familiar with your pet’s habits and behaviours than we are, subtle changes to your pet’s behaviours that may be indicative of a developing problem may not be noticeable or be deemed as abnormal to our team. It is highly recommended to have an emergency contact for senior pets.
