‘Owner’ refers to any person utilising Austral Pets’ services, whether they are the legal owner of the pet or any other individual seeking the services on behalf of the pet. The Owner shall bear full and sole responsibility for the actions and behaviour of the pet while in the care of Austral Pets, as well as any financial liability associated with the booking.
Owner Certification
By agreeing to these terms and conditions, the Owner certifies that they are 18 years of age or older and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. The Owner also certifies that all information provided to Austral Pets is accurate and complete, including information regarding the pet’s health, behaviour, and any special requirements. The pet Owner understands that any misrepresentation or omission of information may result in the pet’s booking being cancelled or the pet being refused entry to Austral Pets.
Admission Policy
Vaccination Requirements:
- The Owner must provide a clear, current, and non-expired vaccination certificate for their pet before admission to the facility. It is the Owner’s responsibility to ensure that their pet has received the required vaccinations, including a C5 or higher for dogs and a F3 or higher for cats.
- Pets that are due for their vaccinations must receive them at least 7 days before boarding.
- Failure to provide a valid vaccination certificate will prevent the pet from being accepted for boarding.
- The Owner must be aware that although vaccination of their pet is required at least 7 days prior to boarding, full protection may not be achieved until 14 days after the vaccination.
- The Owner may choose to board their pet with less than 14 days of coverage, but acknowledges that they understand the increased risk of contagious illnesses that comes with this decision. It is the Owner’s responsibility to follow the advice of veterinary clinics in this matter.
- Current Flea/Tick/Worming treatments are required to be administered prior to boarding.
- Please note that Austral Pets cannot be held responsible for the transmission of any parasites, however, to mitigate this risk, we offer private boarding services.
Incidental Expenses: - The Owner agrees to be responsible for any incidental expenses incurred during the pet’s stay.
- The Owner authorises the Austral Pets team to provide any necessary services deemed essential for the health, safety, and comfort of your pet during its stay. These services, known as incidental expenses, may include, but are not limited to, bathing, grooming, flea/tick/worm treatments, dietary changes, and veterinary care. These expenses may be invoiced to you during your pet’s stay or are payable on pickup. The provision of any additional services will be determined based on the discretion of the Austral Pets team, and only administered if deemed necessary for the well-being and comfort of your pet.
- Baths are recommended to be booked every 7 days while boarding, Austral Pets Pty Ltd reserves the right to administer baths or grooming as they see fit at full cost to the client for the purpose of hygiene, comfort, and safety of the pet.
- All baths and grooming booked for a pet are completed as close to the check out date as possible to ensure the pet is at their freshest leaving the facility. The Owner understands that this service is limited by the availability of the grooming staff, and therefore cannot be guaranteed to be booked immediately prior to check out. Any additional baths or grooming services required will be charged as additional costs.
Assumption of Risks: - The pet Owner acknowledges that communal living with other animals in a boarding facility carries inherent risks, which may include exposure to illnesses and injuries. These risks are not caused by any failure on the part of the boarding facility, but are a natural consequence of pet boarding.
- The Owner assumes all risks associated with boarding their pet and releases the boarding facility, including its employees, from any liability arising from any illness or injury the pet may suffer during or after the boarding period.
- The Owner confirms the pet is fit and healthy, boarding elderly, medically challenged, or unfit pets will be at the Owner’s risk. It is important for the Owner to understand the limitations and risks involved. Austral Pets is not a veterinary boarding facility, and we are unable to offer overnight supervision or medical care beyond minor wound treatment.
- When boarding a senior pet, especially one with health issues, it is important to consider their overall health and temperament. Changes in environment and routine can cause stress and decreased health in senior pets. As the pet owner, you are best equipped to recognize any changes in behaviour that may indicate a problem.
- Additionally, indicators of serious health conditions or declining health status may not be easily recognisable to our animal caretakers who do not have the necessary tools and resources to accurately evaluate the severity of a health condition. This information should be taken into consideration before making a decision to board your senior dog with us.
Pets on the Premises: - The Owner agrees to restrain their pets at all times, dogs must be restrained on a properly functioning lead at all times, cats and small pets must be IATA approved carriers. Any other small pets must also be brought in a secure enclosed carrier. In the event that the Owner fails to provide a suitable carrier or lead, or fails to properly restrain their pet, the Owner assumes all responsibility for any damages, harm, or injury that may result, and releases Austral Pets from any liability.
Daily Charges: - Each calendar day of a pet’s stay, including both check-in and check-out dates, will be charged. A three (3) day minimum boarding stay applies to each booking, any reservation for a shorter duration will incur a charge for the minimum of three (3) days.
Medication: - The administration of medication for pets at Austral Pets must be accompanied by written instructions, which will be closely followed by our staff. All medication must be properly labelled with the prescribed dosage information. The storage fee for medication will be charged per day, based on the length of the pet’s stay, regardless of whether or not the medication is required on a daily basis.
Kennelling Together - The Owner may request that their dogs be kenneled together during their stay at Austral Pets. However, Austral Pets reserves the right to modify this arrangement at their discretion if it is deemed necessary for the safety and well-being of the dogs or other pets in their care.
The owner acknowledges and understands the inherent risks associated with boarding dogs together, even if they normally live together. The dogs may experience stress or anxiety in a new environment, which can result in aggression or fights, including but not limited to injury or death. While Austral Pets takes a strict and proactive approach to dog kennelling and does everything in their power to prevent such instances, the owner assumes all responsibility for any damages or injuries that may occur as a result of dogs being kenneled together. - In the event of a fight or altercation between dogs that are kenneled together, Austral Pets cannot be held liable for any resulting damages or expenses. The owner agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Austral Pets from any claims or lawsuits arising from such incidents.
Personal Belongings: - It is the responsibility of the Owner to ensure all personal belongings, including medication, are retrieved with their pet upon departure. Austral Pets will make a reasonable effort to hold onto any forgotten items for 30 days, during which time they can be claimed by the owner. However, please note that Austral Pets cannot guarantee the return of personal belongings and recommends not bringing any items of sentimental or financial value.
Other Conditions: - All pets must be at least 13 weeks of age.
- Austral Pets may refuse to accept a pet for boarding if it exhibits aggressive, dangerous or disruptive behaviour, or if it is deemed unsuitable for the living environment. Such a decision shall be at the sole discretion of Austral Pets without any liability or obligation to the Owner. In such cases, the Owner acknowledges that amounts paid for the boarding and related services may not be refundable.
- The Owner accepts full responsibility and liability for any damage, injury, or loss caused by their pet to Austral Pets, its facilities, or its clients, whether the pet is restrained or unrestrained.
